Let me just share with you a quick online marketing lesson. If such a course existed it will be a part of the early lessons in Online Marketing 101.

People use the Internet primarily to find information. It's only in the past few years that people have been coming online with the intention to actually buy something and when they do they still want information that will support their purchase -- help them make up their minds.

You make money by supplying what people want. So you supply these people with information that they are looking for and then pocket the cash.

But these same people use the search engines in order to find this information. Search engines will rank your websites according to the information that you have on those websites. So even search engines love information as well. What do you do? You supply the search engines with information (high value content) and then monetize those websites with say, Google Adsense(TM), and you pocket the cash.

Webmasters also know the importance of information and are happy to post your articles to their websites granting you a 'payment' in the form of a one way link to your website. These articles set you apart as an 'expert' in that field and readers come to your website ready for more such information.

Well, if repetition still works as a great teacher you'll see that the common element in all those models is information.

The simple formula is: Information = Cash in your pocket.

In his National bestseller, Multiple Streams of Income, author Robert G. Allen calls selling information the "best business in the world". He goes on to list several advantages of having an information business as:

• Easy to research and create
• Easy and cheap to produce and test
• Low startup cost

The big question is where do you get all this information from? You can do the research to see what people are looking for and then research and write out this information in the form of articles and ebooks and start your own online publishing empire.

But what Robert Allen calls "easy" (because he's a well respected author I guess) can be downright intimidating to a lot of people. Whether you love writing or not, you'll agree with me that it takes a lot of discipline and hard work to put words on paper.
